About this section
Glacier National Park's Going-to-the-Sun Road is a spectacular stretch of scenic highway carved in some of the nation's most rugged peaks. But it's crumbling, yielding to the dual forces of time and the elements. While all agree it needs to be fixed, not all agree how it should be done. What is the future of this Montana landmark? How will we restore it, and can we do so without killing the businesses that depend on it and the park? The Missoulian examines the issues behind rebuilding this 68-year-old highway to the sun.
