KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Broderick Gilchrest's short jumper in the lane with 22 seconds left gave Idaho State the go-ahead score in a 68-65 victory over Missouri-Kansas City on Saturday.
The Bengals (2-4) had three players in double figures with Amorrow Morgan scoring 16, Demetrius Monroe adding 15 and Donnie Carson coming off the bench to score 10.
The Kangaroos (3-2) led 64-60 with about four minutes left, but scored only a free throw for the remainder of the game.
UMKC had three players score double figures paced by Jay Couisnard with 16. Bakari Lewis added 13 and Spencer Johnson 11.
After Gilchrest's jumper made it 66-65, the Kangaroos missed their next try and Monroe pulled down the rebound. He was fouled with nine seconds left and made both free throws for the final margin.

San Diego State 89, Northern Arizona 48: At San Diego, Malcom Thomas scored 21 points, and San Diego State scored 23 of the game's first 25 points in a rout of Northern Arizona.
The Aztecs (4-2) made 11 of 15 shots and held the Lumberjacks without a basket for the first 8 1/2 minutes as they took a 23-2 lead. Northern Arizona missed its first eight shots and had six turnovers before Gabe Rogers finally scored on a 3-pointer at the 11:33 mark.
Tyrone Shelley added 17 points for San Diego State.
Thomas made 10 of 11 shots and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Shelley came off the bench to hit 8 of 10 shots for the Aztecs, who shot 56.3 percent from the field.
Cameron Jones scored 12 points and DeAngelo Jones added 10 for Northern Arizona (2-3).

UC Riverside 59, Sacramento State 58: At Sacramento, Calif., Larry Gurganious had eight points, 10 rebounds and made the game-winning shot at the buzzer to help UC Riverside beat Sacramento State.
Kyle Austin had 12 points and Brandon Dowdy added 11 for the Highlanders (3-2), who won their first game on road.
Behind by seven points in the second half, the Hornets (3-4) surged back to take the lead 47-46 when Justin Eller and Sultan Toles-Bey made two free throws each.
Three-pointers from Dowdy and guard Lateef McMullan put the Highlanders up 57-56 with about two minutes left.
But with 24 seconds to go, Toles-Bey made a pair of free throws to give the lead back to the Hornets.
The Highlanders worked the clock down to four seconds before Dowdy missed a 3-point attempt.
With two defenders between him, Gurganious came down with the rebound, then quickly shot from under the basket with one second left.

Idaho 76, Eastern Washington 54: At Moscow, Idaho, Steffan Johnson had 18 points to lead Idaho past Eastern Washington.
All of Johnson's points came from 3-point range, where he was 6 of 7. Marvin Jefferson and Luiz Toledo also scored in double figures with 10 points each for the Vandals (4-1).
Eastern Washington (2-4) was led by Glen Dean who had 14 points.
Idaho shot 67 percent from the field in the first half and took a 45-23 lead into the break. The Vandals shot 54 percent for the game.
Idaho took its biggest lead with 18:08 to go when Johnson hit his fifth trey, giving the Vandals a 51-23 lead.
Idaho outrebounded the Eagles 40-23.
